The Mission has been compromised!

YARRR!!!!!!

The End - The Doors

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
Ill never look into your eyes…again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need…of some…strangers hand
In a…desperate land

Lost in a roman…wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

Theres danger on the edge of town
Ride the kings highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake…hes old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and well do the rest

The blue bus is callin us
The blue bus is callin us
Driver, where you taken us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and…then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door…and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother…i want to…fuck you

Cmon baby, take a chance with us
Cmon baby, take a chance with us
Cmon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin a blue rock
On a blue bus
Doin a blue rock
Cmon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But youll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

Affordability is a Loaded Word - By Don Mayer of Small Dog Eletronics

Kibbles and Bit’s is a Macintosh newsletter put out once a week by Small Dog Electronics, the countries first Macintosh Store founded back in the 78. The owner Don Mayer much Like Apple CEO Steve Jobs speaks his mind and heart on Social issues. As some of you may well know Steve Jobs is the Countries only CEO to constantly speak out against the Invasion and War in Iraq, not a very popular thing to do in the business world. Don Mayer was recently to speak on public radio in Vermont, here’s the synopsis from his news letter:

Affordability is a Loaded Word
By Don, don@smalldog.com

I was asked this week to be on Vermont Public Radio’s Vermont Edition show (http://www.vpr.net/episode/43592/) to discuss “Affordability.” I used to get very nervous before doing these public speaking events, but lately I’ve been having more fun talking about the issues. It always helps that my radio host is a Small Dog customer and also a Celtics fan, so relaxing wasn’t a problem!

What the real problem is, though, is that affording the increases in gasoline, heating fuels, food and education can be extremely tough. The American Dream has always been that if you work hard, you will be able to make more money, afford a home, be able to educate your children and put something away for retirement. This dream became a contest–the more money you made, the larger home you bought, the larger car you drove. The prevailing “supply-side” theory was that the market forces will separate the winners from the losers, and hey, we should “just live with it.”

Instead, what happens today is that the barriers to a reasonable standard of living are costs and not income. Transportation, food, heat and health care are all escalating far beyond the rate of inflation. These necessities are draining the resources of the middle class and instead of a growing middle class, we have the rich getting richer and the poor becoming more desperate. Instead of taking a long-term view of these important costs, we seem to spend as if there were no tomorrow.

It takes millions of years to make a barrel of oil and yet it is being sold for less than bottled water, even at today’s prices. We pay lip service to the development of renewable energy sources and conservation/efficiency. Most cars still do not have reasonable gas mileage, and it seems like more efficient vehicles are still years away. The runaway escalation in the cost of basic needs cannot be covered by increases in wages by employees. The cost of driving to work increases daily, and we experience double-digit annual increases in health care costs–these are not sustainable rates of growth, and employers are hard-pressed to help their workers keep pace.

So what is the answer to this question of affordability? I believe that our collective government must act on behalf of the common good. This means that the basic social infrastructure needs significant investment. This defines moving to a publicly-financed universal health care system as an economic development program. This defines investing in public transportation as an economic development program. This means investing in efficiency and renewable energy as a building block for our children’s future when the cost of carbon-based fuels will be even higher and the supply much tighter. My driver’s education teacher back in high school said “aim high in steering” and that is what we must do now–we have to be looking at our world in 25 or 50 or 100 years and make the decisions now that will enable our children to enjoy that American dream once again.

Feeling Our Life, Finding Our Life’s Work

Sometimes it takes us the better part of a lifetime to discover our life’s work, even though we may have been doing it our whole lives without necessarily realizing it. Our life’s work is not always what we do to make money, although we often think it should be, and sometimes this way of thinking prevents us from seeing clearly what it is. It may be the work of having children, caring for them, and running a household. The way we know our life’s work is by how we feel when we are doing it.

When we are doing our life’s work, we feel an uncanny sense of ease and alignment. This doesn’t mean that the work is always easy, and it doesn’t mean that it’s the only work we have to do; it just means that there is a conviction deep inside us that tells us we are in tune with our innermost self. When we are engaged in our life’s work, our bodies feel more alive, because our energy is devoted to a cause that, in turn, feeds us. We may be tired after engaging in our life’s work, but we are almost never depleted. We feel grounded in the world, knowing that we belong here and have something important to offer.

When we are deeply unhappy, depressed, or subject to one illness after another, this may be due to a sense of disconnection from our life’s work. At times like these, finding the work we are meant to do is an essential act of healing. Most of us remember a time when we felt fully engaged in some act of work, service or creativity, and it is here that we may rediscover the work we are meant to do now. On the other hand, it may be time to explore what inspires us through volunteering, taking a class, going back to school, or just doing whatever it is we long to try. We all have callings, and when we find them, we owe it to ourselves to nurture and protect them, because while they may or may not be our livelihood, they are the keys to our wellbeing.

Love like that by STEW

i remember when i owned everything
the sun and the moon and the rain
and my domain
stretched out yonder
on the astral planes

the universe is a toy in the mind of a boy
and life is a movie too
starring u
ur whole family is the cast and crew
thats a little secret between god and u

but aint it strange how it all makes perfect sense
once ur life becomes evidence
the need to feel
that love makes it more than real

because ur mothers love might seem insane
its cause she really knows everything
2 bad it takes so long
2 c what u’ve been missing

cause the real is a construct
its the raw nerves private zone
its the personal sunset
ur drive off into alone

‘Consumer Reports’: Apple tech support is aces

Posted by Tom Krazit

Apple has the best technical support in the PC industry, according to the most recent issue of Consumer Reports

The venerable magazine surveyed its readers to gather their experiences with technical support for personal computing, and Apple’s organization far outpaced its rivals in the PC industry. Readers assigned the company a score of 83 for its notebook technical support, which translates to “very satisfied” on Consumer Reports’ rating scale. You have to be a Consumer Reports subscriber if you want to access the articles and graphs on its Web site.

Lenovo and Dell ranked second and third, respectively, with scores of 66 and 60, or “fairly well satisfied.” Hewlett-Packard, the current leader in the PC market, received the lowest score and the worst rating for its technical support staffers. Apple also led the desktop technical support pack with a score of 81, trailed by Dell and Gateway with scores below 60.

Apple has also ranked well on the University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index, a yearly measure of consumer taste in various brands. The company solves problems quickly, especially for customers who take their Mac to one of the company’s retail stores for service. But if you don’t live near an Apple Store, the company offers the shortest amount of free telephone support of any of the PC companies.

When it comes to the number of problems that appear, Apple’s record wasn’t as stellar. The company was ranked last in the number of defects that cropped up in its notebooks between 2003 and 2007, although the margin of error in that survey meant that all the surveyed manufacturers essentially tied with defects found in between 20 percent and 23 percent of their notebooks.

But Apple did much better in desktops, leading the pack with the fewest defects reported between 2003 and 2007. And since customers respond well to companies that can quickly fix the inevitable problems that crop up in PCs and consumer electronics, Apple’s surging Mac sales might have something to do with its support.
