I came across this band doing a random google search about gods and goddesses of music in world history. This is a complete random bits cyberspace DIY find of gold, a Celtic band from Brazil who simply fucking rock. In all the randomness of life producing the path to even listening to this band in the first place, well its what led me to grab my Jeff Beck CD’s. Guess you had to be there BOOSH! This video is such a small sample of the unique work Tuatha de Danann (the band not the people =) produce, but I imagine Brazilian Celtic bands who sing in English but don’t have a lot of exposure to the western world…… yet >:D
I spent plentifully on itunes for this band, more then I usually do but I’ve been enjoying them for days now. They are dope dope dope fo shizzle ma nizzle, check it and JB too.
Watching this terrible scene I am
Shivering with fear the silence of kings
My eyes see disgrace everywhere around
There’s nowhere to return no things to do
You Horatio, listen to me
Tell the people of my history
The poison is slowly winning my soul
Goodbye to my queen, to everyone
Night comes to my eyes and silence too
There’s nowhere to return no things to do
Dear friend
As I say
Do everything
If thou hast loved me
Please clear my name
Maybe truth shall reign on this land
Someday I shall live again
But my eyes will see that
Night is coming to my eyes
Nothing new from England
I think the Fortinbras Shall win the elections
Explain the causes and clear my name
the rest is silence

I’m one who likes to go through the music I have been blessed with usually because I’m looking for some kind of creative inspiration, sometimes out of sheer boredom. Being in a rut as a musician and songwriter is a place that I can go to extremes to exit from especially when it comes to everyday improvisation. All those fresh licks from inside of your soul from 6 months ago are now passé and over worked to the point of being stale. I have always admired players like Larry Carlton, John Mclaughlin, and Chick Korea who have that endless flow of phrasing like a river flowing into the sea forever and ever. I’ve always thought I would never be that kind of player until it occurred to me the reason these guys flow original ideas so well. They play 6 to 10 hours a day and it becomes 2nd nature.
In the midst of all these thoughts I described I’m going through my music collection which is well over 300GB and boxes full of CD’s for some inspiration. One can only be so inspired when the last 11 compositions they have penned are country ballads, they are cool and all but truthfully I barley even listen to country. I come across the Jeff Beck Group and all the Beck, Bogart and Appice in my collection. Jeff Beck still blows me away, he blew me away in 1978 when I was in grade school and he still does today. The guy never plays fast but his phrasing is so out of the norm at times he sounds like he’s shredding.
Blow by Blow, Wired and the debut The Jeff Beck Group are sizzling my ear drums. This is truly a Déjà vu becuase every time I come back to these 3 albums it’s the same thing, I fall in love with them all over again. I listen to them for months on end constantly in a frenzy until I am sick of hearing the tracks and finally stop. I also find something completely new and refreshing every time I come back to these 3 pieces of JB’s work. I guess that’s why all of my guitars (except my telly) have JB Pickups installed in them.
Judge for yourself the genius of Jeff Beck (note the sexiest woman alive and my soon to be new girlfriend / ex wife Tal Wilkenfeld on bass).

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 29 (HealthDay News) — British researchers say they’ve identified a “hate circuit” in the brain.
This hate circuit shares part of the brain associated with aggression, but is distinct from areas related to emotions such as fear, threat, and danger, said researchers Professor Semir Zeki and John Romaya, of University College London’s laboratory of neurobiology. The study was published online Oct. 29 in the journalPLoS One.
“Hate is often considered to be an evil passion that should, in a better world, be tamed, controlled, and eradicated,” Zeki said in a journal news release. “Yet to the biologist, hate is a passion that is of equal interest to love. Like love, it is often seemingly irrational and can lead individuals to heroic and evil deeds. How can two opposite sentiments lead to the same behavior?”

In this study, 17 female and male volunteers underwent brain scans while they looked at photos of a person they hated, along with photos of a “neutral” person. Looking at images of hated people triggered activity in an area that includes structures in the cortex and in the sub-cortex as well as components that generate aggressive behavior and translate it into action.
The hate circuit also includes a part of the frontal cortex that’s believed to play a major role in predicting the actions of others, likely an important feature when a person is faced with someone they hate, the researchers said. The sub-cortical activity of the hate circuit involves two structures called the putamen and insula. The putamen plays a role in the perception of contempt and disgust, and may be part of the motor system that’s mobilized to take action, the scientists said.
“Significantly, the putamen and insula are also both activated by romantic love. This is not surprising. The putamen could also be involved in the preparation of aggressive acts in a romantic context, as in situations when a rival presents a danger. Previous studies have suggested that the insula may be involved in responses to distressing stimuli, and the viewing of both a loved one and a hated face may contribute such a distressing signal,” Zeki said.
He added that activity in parts of the hate circuit matches the strength of the person’s declared intensity of hate, “thus allowing the subjective state of hate to be objectively quantified. This finding may have legal implications in criminal cases, for example.”

Despite an ongoing legal dispute with Apple, Mac clone maker Psystar announced today that they are shipping OS X-compatible PCs with Blu-ray optical drives and the NVIDIA 9800GT graphics card. Apple does not currently offer either peripheral on the Mac.
According to the FAQ, Mac OS X Blu-ray support is limited to to read/write data capabilities only and there is no Blu-ray software capable of playing back Blu-ray video on the Mac. Apple had described the licensing of Blu-ray as a “bag of hurt”, but was likely referring specifically to the video playback licensing issues.
The two peripherals are build to order options from Psystar. Two weeks ago, Apple and Psystar agreed to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in which both parties can try to work out a resolution rather than going to trial. The process may still require several months.

On a personal level, Freaking Out is a process whereby an individual casts off outmoded and restricting standards of thinking, dress, and social etiquette in order to express creatively his relationship to his immediate environment and the social structure as a whole.

The mother and brother of the Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson were found shot to death inside her mother’s house on the South Side of Chicago on Friday afternoon, and the police were said to be looking for her 7-year-old nephew.
The police confirmed that Ms. Hudson’s mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, 57, was one of the victims, the ABC affiliate WLS reported on its Web site. A neighbor reportedly told the entertainment Web site TMZ that the other victim had been identified as Ms. Hudson’s brother, Jason S. Hudson, 29.
The police said they were searching for Ms. Hudson’s nephew, Julian King, who had been reported missing on Friday morning.
According to TMZ, the police were searching for a man identified as William Balfour, the husband of Ms. Hudson’s sister, Julia, who they said could be with the missing boy 7-year-old. Mr. Balfour reportedly listed the address of Ms. Hudson’s mother in the Englewood neighborhood as his place of residence within the last year. The Web site also reported that according to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Mr. Balfour is on parole after serving time in prison for attempted murder.
WLS reported that neighbors told the police they heard shots fired on Friday morning.
But it was not until Friday afternoon that a family member found Ms. Donerson in the living room and left the house to call the police, the television station reported. When they arrived at the house, they found Mr. Hudson in a bedroom.
The police said that there was no sign of forced entry at the house, and that the shootings were the result of a domestic dispute.
The Rev. Willie Davis, pastor of the Progressive Baptist Church, where Ms. Hudson and her family were members, said that despite her daughter’s celebrity, Ms. Donerson chose to stay and live on the South Side, WLS reported.
“That says a lot about the fact of the kind of family Jennifer comes from,” Mr. Davis was quoted as saying. “They’re a family of faith. They want to be attached to their roots.”
Church leaders said they were told that Ms. Hudson was flying home to Chicago from Tampa, Fla., according to the television station.
In 2007, Ms. Hudson won an Oscar for best supporting actress in her role as Effie White in the film “Dreamgirls.”

Apple has publicly posted in their HotNews feed that they are opposing a proposal (Proposition 8 ) that seeks to eliminate the right to same-sex marriage in the state of California. Apple has also donated $100,000 to the “No to 8″ campaign:
Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.
Proposition 8 is on the California ballot for the November 4th vote.

Apple announced their financial results today for the 4th quarter of fiscal 2008 . Apple posted revenue of $7.9 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.14 billion, or $1.26 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $6.22 billion and net quarterly profit of $904 million, or $1.01 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 34.7 percent, up from 33.6 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 41 percent of the quarter’s revenue.
Apple shipped 2,611,000 Macintosh computers during the quarter, representing 21 percent unit growth and 17 percent revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 11,052,000 iPods during the quarter, representing eight percent unit growth and three percent revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. Quarterly iPhone units sold were 6,892,000 compared to 1,119,000 in the year-ago-quarter.
This would also conclude the Apple has hit the 10 million iphone mark. Steve Jobs first described the goal in January 2007 when he introduced the iPhone. The 10 million iPhone sales represented 1% of mobile phones sold at that time.
